Amor Backyard Farm is an urban micro-farm located in Bakersfield, California.
Amor, the Spanish word for love, guides our farm’s mission to support the evolution of micro-farming from individual food insecurity to community food sovereignty, one yard at a time.
Our Family Tradition
Amor Backyard Farm uses ancestral practices and innovative techniques to build a sustainable ecosystem that will withstand future climate challenges and adapt to diverse market opportunities.
As a home-based family business, the farm is operated primarily by Dr. Young Spath, with family assistance in crop planting, harvesting, and delivery. Dr. Young also collaborates with other female farmers in the region to share knowledge, mutual mentoring, and support.
